Compositions
The composition major challenged me to compose and arrange in multiple styles, ranging from the Renaissance motet and string quartet to barbershop and extended technique piano pieces.
Below: Poema 12 adapts text by Chilean poet Pablo Neruda into an art song. Poema 12 was originally written for mezzo-soprano, but due to an unfortunate last-minute injury I stepped in to sing my own piece. As well from being one of my favorite of my own works, Poema 12 marks my premiere as a classical vocalist. Featuring Neil DiMaggio on piano.
Diptych is a avant-garde piano composition that explores the relationship of sound and matter through extended techniques. The title refers to both the work's two contrasting movements and the double-folded lid of a grand piano. Featuring Jesse Nieman on piano.
